"It's all in the mileage of the brush . . . " -- Sergei Bongart
That's right, I've been spending long nights in the studio -- painting the night away. I will be participating in a group exhibition at the marvelous 15th Street Gallery, located in Salt Lake City, Utah on Nov. 16th. For this show, I have continued to focus and explore abstraction and fashion themes. I am very excited to share the paintings soon.
" Painting is all about the hand and the spirit finding a connection. It's about following your intuition, trusting you are making the right personal choices in each step of the work. Sometimes it may feel you have lost it, and are literally making a huge mess, but then, you must trust the process, trust you will find it again, and then you do, and reconstruct it into something magical-- something that is beyond your original ideas-- something that grew out of the mess into which you had gotten yourself. It's all about the art of play, and about surrendering to the idea that something doesn't have to be perfect, allowing the thing to evolve and become what it wants, as though the painting itself has become part of the magnificent act of creation. I have learned that I love how art takes me to a place where I have complete control, and yet I have completely lost control. I may know how my medium will act, yet there is something that happens when the mind and the hand try to connect. You try to control that connection so your work will turn out the way you envision it, but somewhere in the interaction, it goes awry and the wonderment occurs."
