ichi-go ichi-e

 

 

 

Hello Darlings . . . recently came across a Japanese phrase, ichi-go ichi-e.  It means, “one time”, and can be translated as “never again” or “for this time only” or “one chance in a lifetime”.  It’s a cultural concept that acknowledges or recognizes an unusual or important encounter or experience, that for whatever reason, stands out from the day-to-day moments of our usual life and routine.  And yet, the very nature of life — this  fleeting, ephemeral, mystery, is comprised of moments that are each unique, here and then gone, and never to be exactly the same, again.  This phrase, for me, is a reminder to slow down and relish the beauty and precious nature that is here, right now.  It’s a daily practice, for me.

On a lighter note, my mum and sister recently visited me in Florida.  We had a blast catching up on photo shoots and getting wet whenever possible.  I love lounging in my new, Talina Hermann . Celestial Star dress.  It’s light, silky and cool, and that feels really good on a hot and humid day. And, it’s also the perfect, sexy, cute, stylish frock to wear to a hip, new restaurant in Palm Beach.  Ichi-go ichi-e.  Look around.  Life is beautiful!

I'm really a Mermaid . . .

Hello Darlings . . . Suddenly, my boyfriend and I are considering the possibility of a move to Los Angeles.  Hey now, I was just starting to like it here in Jupiter.   Isn’t it just too easy to take for granted what we have?  Joni Mitchell had it right after all, . . . “you don’t know what you’ve got ‘till it’s gone”.  I’ve grown to love this dark river that runs to the sea.  I’ve seen some amazing things come and go — porpoise and turtles, owls and cranes, and birds of endless variety.  I love the way the light and shadows dance across the ever-changing currents in a river that rises and falls with the ocean tides.  I love the big sky, and I love living in a place where frogs still sing their throaty songs.

But, life is like that . . . ever-changing  . . . constantly insisting that we grow - into the new place, the new relationship, the new life, the new self.  I want to remind you (and myself) that wherever you find yourself, right now, there is something utterly wonderful and amazing that life is gifting to you.  Trust me, I know how hard change can be, but if you can somehow, softly let go, and open to the next step, I know in my heart that there is something wonderful, marvelous, and just perfect (for you and me) waiting there.

Jupiter is a great place for skating.  Nice and flat.  Not a lot of traffic.  I live in these darling, stripped pink shorts from Talina Hermann.  This WildFox  mermaid sweatshirt is as soft as it gets.  As always, I love mixing it up.  I cannot wait to see what California has in store . . .

Up in at the air . . .

Hello darlings,

(. . . crash landing & dusting herself off . . . ) 

I’m back,  after a rather long, and unintentional break.  Sometimes the winds of change sweep in and take us somewhere we never planned on going.  In January, I found myself in love, living in Florida, and crazy-busy with my delightful, instagram accounts (which, I hope all of you are following)!  There really is only so much time in a day, and since there is only one of me, I haven’t quite figured out how to fit everything in to those measly 24 hours.  But, I love blogging (and everything about it), and as they say, absence really does make the heart grow fonder.  I’ve missed connecting in this way, and I have come to value, on a deeper level, all that my blog gives back to me.  It feels good to be back.
