She made me . . .

Posted on: 2.08.2013

Earthy tones, luxurious fabrics, and handmade details - these delicious elements are imbued in She Made Me’s current, collection .  This Australian label offers beautiful, hand crocheted swimwear and vintage, accessories, all perfect for the contemporary, bohemian woman.   I’ve long been an admirer of vintage sarongs, with hints of velvet, and rich colors.  The look is ethereal and dreamy - everything that I love. This campaign was shot by the amazing, Mel Tjoeng, modeled by Hannah Saul, and the beautiful hair and makeup, are the artwork of Luciana Rose.     Chloe Dunlop, is the artist/designer behind the company.  It seems, she’s created a life as marvelous as her designs.  I’m excited to share, with you, a bit of her free-spirited energy and inspiring story.

Name: Chloe Dunlop

Online Boutique: She Made Me

Star Sign: Leo

Chloe, where do you call home?
In a small, coastal town on the southern end of the Gold Coast, in Australia. With the ocean at the door step, rainforest and rock pools not too far away, it is a beautiful place to call home.

Tell us about SHE MADE ME.  How did it all begin?
She Made Me has been a very natural progression for me. I have been very fortunate to have worked in the industry for almost seven years, for a swimwear label and also as a swimwear buyer. I had the opportunity to travel and have seen some amazing places, labels, and collections, but I realized that I needed to do something for myself. After making that decision and being so passionate about swimwear, it was always going to happen.

What sparked the inspiration for this collection, and/or what is inspiring you lately?
It's hard to say, exactly, what inspired me for this collection, but when designing it, I was lucky enough to be staying in a beautiful, secluded beach house in Byron Bay, while my boyfriend was doing an artist residency. Looking back, and then at the collection, the colourway inspiration has been drawn from those surroundings. Also, I am always inspired by my travels, music, and carefree spirits from the ‘70s.

Who are your favorite designers?
I really love what the girls from Stone Cold Fox create, and also, the Australian label, Friend of Mine.

What does every girl “need” in her closet?
A crochet bikini.

What is your idea of happiness?
A combination of sunshine, surfing little waves on a longboard, salty hair and sandy feet, late night dancing in the lounge room to old records, road trips and sleeping in the back of the van. Any of this, with the one you love, or your soul sisters, is my idea of happiness.

Best advice that you’ve ever gotten?
Be true to yourself and do what makes you happy.

Chloe was sweet enough to send me over some presents.  Yay!  I opened her package and slipped on the most gorgeous, kimono ever . . . honestly, it is one of the most beautiful things that I own!  Totally, Boho-Luxe.  I love, love, love it!   I can't wait to style these gifts in my upcoming photo shoot.
