Hello Lovelies . . . here is another look for the Charcoal Alley for Volcom project.  How dramatic is this shoot with Catalina Island, glowing like a jewel in the distance, as the burning sun sinks into the horizon.  My little black heart floods with memories.  Fire-red backlighting pops against the cobalt sea, and lights up the carefully selected jewelry in the shoot.  Over-stated jewelry (if there is such a thing) is a look that continues to delight me.  I love how jewelry can create absolute transformation.  In this shoot, I am featuring some of the gorgeous creations of Palm Beach, Jewelry designer and blogger beauty, Allegra Fanjul.  She creates wonderful handcrafted, one-of-a-kind, designs. Attention to detail, high quality stones, crystals, pearls, and rich metals, showcase her passion for her art.  You can check out her marvelous creations  here or on etsy here.

This shoot features the 'UR A Pistol' skirt from Volcom.  I must say this is one of my favorite pieces from their spring/summer collection.  What can I say?  It's just fun being a girl, and this outfit epitomizes summer, the beach, and the feminine essence.

Hello Darlings . . . Lately, I've been trying to follow the advice of one of my favorite wisdom teachers,  Deepak Chopra.  He shares, "In my life, nothing goes wrong.  When things seem to not meet my expectations, I let go of how I think things should be.  It's a matter of not having any attachment to any fixed outcome."  So, do you dare to accept completely, the exact thing that life presents to you, in each and every moment?  For myself, it feels like a relief to surrender to the idea that I don't have to figure everything out all at once . . . of course, I just spent the day at the beach.  We'll see what happens when the shit hits the fan.

Hearts are wild creatures, that’s why our ribs are cages.

Hello sweet darlings . . . Photography amazes me . . . how mysterious it is, to be able to freeze a moment of time.  I love how a still image invites us to take another look at life -- the seemingly everyday -- and highlight aspects that may have gone unnoticed.  With a little closer scrutiny, and a little more time, unseen patterns and unplanned metaphors appear, as if by magic.  Red seems to be the primary element that echoed its way into this shoot.  My red, cowboy boots, the geraniums, a dangling, lilikoi flower, a vintage motorcycle.  It's as if some unseen force is moving us, dancing with us, directing behind the scenes.  I loved styling this classic black and white striped dress, which is part of Volcom's summer capsule collection. I paired it with a chunky, choker necklace.  It was fun tapping into a little bit of my wild-side.  In retrospect, I was suprised with the results -- (quite possibly, my favorite look for my Charcoal Alley for Volcom project).
